Mana Acceleration

Category: Mana Acceleration

Mana Acceleration is a slang term given to cards that put cards into your mana zone (usually from the top of your deck, hand, or graveyard).

Details

While mana is usually limited to only one card per turn, there are cards from mostly the Nature Civilization that add more cards into the mana zone either from the top of the deck, from your graveyard or from your hand. Cards from other civilizations such as spells that have the Charger keyword can also help increase the number of cards in your mana zone.

■ Put the top card of your deck into your mana zone.

This tactic is mostly used in decks which include Nature cards, mostly to bring out strong removals or fatty finishers earlier. This has proved to usually grant upper advantage against "slower" decks such as controls.

A 2 cost mana acceleration card like Jasmine, Mist Faerie, Stepple, Cherry Blossom Wind Faerie and Faerie Life can tie themselves into a cost 4 card like Jenny, the Dismantling Puppet, Mana Crisis and Faerie Shower on turn 3 easily.

Typical strategies include:

Decks based on rapid mana acceleration are usually granted a Turbo suffix. For example: Dorballom Turbo is a mana acceleration deck focused on bringing out Dorballom, Lord of Demons as quickly as possible to cripple the opponent and grant you victory.

Since Episode 2, these decks had grown in number in the Metagame. Sometimes cost reducing spells such as Faerie Gift and Prelude of Horror are used to further quicken the summoning of high mana cost finisher creatures. This has now been decreasing due to Hall of Fame restrictions.
