The Admirals are an archetype of creatures who first appeared in DM-21 History of Devil Nova in a cycle of 5 cards, one for each civilization.

All Admirals, regardless of having the word "Admiral" in their names, have two certain effects. When you put an Admiral creature into the battle zone, you reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, add all cards of a specified race(s) to your hand from the revealed cards, then put the rest at the bottom of your deck in any order. When an Admiral is discarded from your hand during your opponent's turn, you may put it into the battle zone instead. This second effect is often referred to as a "Madness" ability (named after the similar Magic: The Gathering ability).

Because Baiken, Blue Dragon of the Hidden Blade has a similar "Madness" ability and a race-based drawing effect, it is sometimes considered an Admiral. Strictly speaking, however, it isn't an Admiral due to not having the exact hand-replenishing effect all true Admirals have. Terradragon Arque Delacerna can also be summoned into play after being discarded, but has no other effect.

While Dellinder, Machine Admiral and Admiral Queen have "Admiral" in their names, they are unrelated to this group of creatures.
